Environmental guidelines
The Alpacem Group, the market leader for cement and concrete in the Alps-Adriatic region, is aware of its responsibility towards nature and strives to minimise and gradually reduce the impact of its business activities on the environment.
Our ten Alpacem environmental guidelines
Alpacem is working hard to minimise the environmental impact of its products. This includes not only the development of CO2-optimised cement and concrete, the use of alternative fuels and recycled materials, but also a variety of other measures that continuously reduce the ecological footprint. In implementing sustainable cement production, Alpacem follows ten environmental guidelines:
- We are committed to complying with all environmentally relevant laws, regulations and official requirements. In addition to this mandatory standard, we are continuously working to improve our environmental performance.
- In order to counteract climate change, we focus on manufacturing our products with low CO2 emissions.
- We reduce and avoid environmental pollution caused by our activities as far as possible, using the best available technology with economically justifiable effort. Production processes and all organisational procedures are therefore continuously optimised according to ecological and economic aspects.
- We are increasingly using raw materials and fuels that conserve natural resources and whose use and application makes sense from both an ecological and economic point of view.
- We actively manage environmental and waste issues in order to monitor and minimise the environmental impact, particularly in the area of air emissions and waste treatment.
- Internal organisational instruments have been created to avoid emissions caused by accidents. The condition of all plants is regularly inspected in cooperation with authorities and external experts.
- We inform our employees, neighbours, business partners and authorities about our environmentally relevant activities in an open and direct manner and maintain a constant dialogue with them.
- To control and document the defined objectives, we apply the procedures and methods of the standardised quality and environmental management systems that have been proven in practice.
- We take precautions to ensure that contractual partners (subcontractors, suppliers) working on our premises act in accordance with our environmental policy.
- The review and adaptation of these guidelines is carried out annually as part of the environmental audits and the environmental management review.
